Wedding Photography, Videography, Why You Should Be Choosey?

Today, it seems that wedding photographers, and videographers are popping up everywhere.  Everyone's a photojournalist, everyone's a cinematographer, everyone's the best? 

Are they really true professionals?  Shouldn't you care?

With the digital world of camera's and video camera's becoming more popular and readily available to anyone, and everyone, it's no wonder so many individuals are taking on the challenge of photographing or video taping weddings.  Perhaps it's an uncle in the family, or a cousin.  Should they however be the one you trust your one-time memories with?

Wedding photography and videography requires more than a fancy, modern camera.  Seasoned wedding photographers, and videographers rely on experience, instinct, technical knowledge, and what appears to sometimes be a sixth sense.  A fancy new camera in the hands of a close relative, or friend is nothing more than a fancy gadget and you're considering allowing them to try it out on your precious wedding memories?

It's not just the Camera, it's who's behind it that matters.

When it comes to capturing those special candid moments, that romantic touch, or that loving glance, a friend or relative will not be trained or have that "sixth sense" I mentioned to be readily available for capturing those moments.  Why?  Experience, and training, for 2 reasons, and another reason I've observed many times is that a relative or friend shooting your wedding often tends to chat with guests at the wedding.  After all, they are a guest themselves aren't they?  Your relative or friend with the camera will be torn between two worlds, , , that of being your photographer, or videographer for the day, , , and that of being a wedding guest, not to mention a relative or close friend of the family.   They will want to chat, and catch up on good times like everyone else during the day.  The reception is often a time when many real professional photographers or videographers, are on their toes even more so, and ready to capture those special moments.  A true professional is not torn between the two worlds mentioned above.  He/she is in one world, the hired professional world, the one that you can trust to be focused on doing the job you hired them to do world.

Price Does Matter - Don't be fooled.

When you go to a Dr. (any profession), you expect to pay well for their services don't you?  When you visit your Dr. and are speaking with him or her, is the first thing that comes out of your mouth,  "How much do you charge?"  Likely not.  Often, you chose that Dr. for a couple of reasons.  1.)  He/she was referred to you by a friend, or relative for the great job they do.

2.)  He/she has a reputation for getting the job done not only right, but well.

Price was not a consideration for you in choosing your Doctor.  Expertise, years of experience, good reputation, and trust however probably were. 

Doctors, Lawyers, Dentists, Chiropractors, Contractors, all charge what they do, not just because they can, but because they're worth it.   True professional photographers, and videographers, with experience, and expertise behind them are entitled to the same respect and appreciation for what they do.  In most cases, you do get what you pay for. 

Remember, it's one of the most special days in your life, don't price shop, , , quality shop.

Don't trust your wedding photography, or wedding videography to anyone that is not a true, experienced, and trained professional.
